Introduction to the AI Interview Simulator

What is the AI Interview Simulator and when should you use it?

The AI Interview Simulator is a voice-based interview coaching tool built into SkilOre. It lets you practice real interviews with an AI interviewer that asks challenging questions based on your CV and the job you're targeting. Use it when you want to prepare for an upcoming interview, build confidence with your answers, or identify gaps in how you present your experience.

The simulator is designed to feel like a real interview — a live voice conversation where you speak your answers naturally, not type them. After the session, you receive a detailed coaching report with scores, model answers, and specific areas to improve.

Why practice with the Interview Simulator?

Most candidates spend hours perfecting a CV and then improvise the interview — the one stage that actually decides the offer. The Interview Simulator turns that improvisation into deliberate, measurable practice, and addresses the obstacles that hold most people back:

  • No safe place to practice — Rehearsing on friends is awkward, and professional coaching is expensive and hard to schedule. The simulator is available any time, in private, with no judgement.
  • No honest feedback — Most candidates never learn why they were rejected. Here, every answer receives structured feedback you can act on.
  • Generic preparation — Reading lists of "common interview questions" doesn't prepare you for this role at this company. Tailored questions do.
  • Interview nerves — Confidence comes from familiarity. After a few realistic rehearsals, the real interview feels routine.

The payoff is a higher chance of the offer: clearer, better-structured answers and visible confidence move you from a good candidate to the one they want — and the practice is reusable for every role you apply to.

Quick Steps

  1. Make sure you have a CV created on SkilOre.
  2. Navigate to the Interview Simulator from the main menu or homepage.
  3. Select your CV and paste the job description for the role you're targeting.
  4. Choose your session length, difficulty level, language, and microphone setup.
  5. Start the interview and respond to questions using your voice.
  6. Review your coaching report after the session ends.
  7. Check your interview history to track improvement over time.

How does it work?

The AI Interview Simulator follows a straightforward flow:

Before the interview — You select one of your SkilOre CVs and paste the job description you're targeting. The AI uses both to generate questions that are specific to your experience and the role requirements. You also choose your session length, preferred language, difficulty level, and microphone setup.

During the interview — You have a live voice conversation with the AI interviewer for the session length you picked. The interviewer asks a mix of technical, behavioral, and CV-based questions. After each answer, the interviewer paraphrases what you said before moving to the next question — giving you a chance to correct any misunderstandings.

After the interview — A detailed coaching report is generated automatically as a downloadable PDF. The report includes your overall score, per-question analysis with model answers, communication feedback, and recommended practice topics.

How long is an interview session?

You choose your session length in the lobby before you start. The options are:

  • 5 minutes — a quick warm-up or single-topic drill
  • 15 minutes — a focused practice round (default)
  • 30 minutes — a substantial mock interview
  • 45 minutes — a full-length interview simulation

Pick the length that matches how much time you have and how deep you want to go.

What does the AI interviewer assess?

The AI evaluates your answers across four categories:

  • Technical — Do you demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for the role?
  • Behavioral — Can you provide structured examples of past situations and outcomes?
  • Communication — Are your answers clear, concise, and well-organized?
  • CV Consistency — Do your verbal answers align with the experience described in your CV?

Each category receives a separate score in your coaching report, along with specific feedback and suggestions for improvement.

What are the prerequisites?

Before you can use the Interview Simulator, you need:

  • A SkilOre CV — At least one CV created on the platform. The AI uses your CV content to generate personalized questions.
  • A job description — Paste the job description for the role you're targeting (minimum 100 characters). This ensures the questions are relevant to the specific position.
  • Access to the simulator — either an active plan that includes it, a free practice session, or enough Smart Tokens (see "How do I get access and how much does it cost?" below).

What languages are supported?

The Interview Simulator supports 12 languages and dialects:

Language Dialects
English US, British
German Standard, Swiss, Austrian
French Standard
Spanish Standard
Portuguese European, Brazilian
Arabic Egyptian, Saudi, Emirati

You select your preferred language before the interview starts. The AI interviewer conducts the entire session in that language.

What difficulty levels are available?

You can choose from three levels:

  • Junior — Foundational questions with a supportive tone. Focuses on potential, learning ability, and basic technical knowledge.
  • Intermediate — Balanced technical and behavioral depth. Expects concrete examples and structured answers using the STAR method.
  • Senior — Deep technical probing, leadership scenarios, and strategic thinking assessment. Questions challenge assumptions and explore decision-making under pressure.

The difficulty level affects question complexity, expected answer depth, and scoring thresholds.

How do I get access and how much does it cost?

There are three ways to use the Interview Simulator:

  • On a plan — The simulator is included with unlimited sessions on the Practice and Accelerate plans. There's no per-session cost.

  • Free practice session — Free-tier users get one free practice session to try the simulator before subscribing.

  • With Smart Tokens — Pay per session using your token balance. The cost depends on the session length you choose:

    Session length Token cost
    5 minutes 5 Smart Tokens
    15 minutes 10 Smart Tokens
    30 minutes 20 Smart Tokens
    45 minutes 25 Smart Tokens

If you end a session early before it really gets going (fewer than 4 exchanges or under 60 seconds), any tokens spent are automatically refunded. The coaching report and optional recording are always included at no extra cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the Interview Excellence Kit?

They are two different tools. The Interview Excellence Kit (also called the interview preparation pack) is a document generated by the Smart CV Builder when you create a Smart Application — a static set of likely questions with suggested answers that you download and read to prepare. The AI Interview Simulator is a live, voice-based mock interview where you actually speak your answers and receive a scored coaching report afterwards. Use the Kit to study likely questions, then use the Simulator to practice answering them out loud under realistic conditions.

Do I need a microphone?

Yes. The Interview Simulator uses voice-based interaction. You need a working microphone — a headset, laptop microphone, or conference microphone all work. You can select your microphone type in the lobby settings to optimize audio quality.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. The Interview Simulator works on any device with a microphone and a modern web browser. For the best experience, use a quiet environment and a headset.

Is the interview recorded?

Recording is optional. You can enable or disable recording in the lobby settings before starting the interview. If enabled, the full audio is saved and can be replayed from your interview history.

What happens if I lose my internet connection?

If the connection drops during the interview, the session data saved up to that point is preserved. You will not be able to resume the same session, but your coaching report may still be generated if enough data was captured. If the session was too short, any tokens spent are refunded.
